A Civil War soldier
The Dyslexia actually dates back to the Civil War when doctors noticed when soldiers took a hit to the head and then had trouble reading and writing. The doctors also noticed that in every case the soldier suffered bleeding in the part of the brain that deals with those functions. Their term for this was A-lexia or away from words and A-graphia meaning away from writing another word that is used still today is word blindness. A doctor named Hinshelwood thought that word blindness was actually a different condition.
